Armed Robbery Vehicle Identified as Stolen Vehicle from Lincolnton

 

The armed suspect that entered Parkway Bank in Granite Falls yesterday used a stolen vehicle in his getaway and had an accomplice.

 

Granite Falls Police investigators have identified the suspect vehicle used in the armed robbery at Parkway Bank in Granite Falls. An employee of Bubba’s Rides & Body Shop, INC of Lincolnton, NC saw their stolen vehicle in the photograph aired by the media. The vehicle, a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix, was stolen from their lot on January 27, 2011 at approximately 1:30pm by two suspects that he did not know. A police report was filed with Lincolnton Police Department.

 

Granite Falls Investigators have also identified a second suspect involved in the bank robbery, who they also believe is involved in the theft of the vehicle. Investigators have not positively identified either of the two men at this point. The second suspect is described as a white male, 5’7”, 160 pounds, that looked between 45 and 50 years of age, wearing blue jeans, a brown coat, and brown hat. (The photograph attached is of the second suspect in the robbery who is in Jack B. Quick in Granite Falls, NC on the day of the robbery, just prior to the robbery. The suspect is the closet person to the camera.)

 

In a tip called in to the Granite Falls Police Department, the suspect vehicle was observed traveling US 321 just inside Hickory, NC at approximately 5:15pm yesterday traveling south.

The vehicle was observed traveling at a high rate of speed and nearly collided with another vehicle.

Reward increased to $25,000 in Pawn Shop Murder

 

 

The family of Tony Lee Myers has posted an additional $14,000 reward on top of the $11,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer of Tony Myers.

 

Caldwell County Crimestoppers has offered $1,000, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has posted a $5,000.00 reward and the State of North Carolina has committed a Governors reward in the amount of $5,000.00 as well.

Reward Increased in Homicide Case

On December 28, 2009, officers with the Granite Falls Police Department
responded to Granite Gun and Pawn , a licensed federal firearms dealer,

located at 90 South Main Street, Granite Falls, and found Tony Myers of

Taylorsville deceased.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has offered an
additional reward of up to $5000 on top of the $1,000 offered by Caldwell
County Crime stoppers. The reward for information leading to the arrest and

conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Tony Lee Myers

in Granite Falls, NC is now up to $6,000.


Investigators with the Granite Falls Police Department and agents from the NC State
Bureau of Investigation and ATF are continuing to follow up on leads and
information. Investigators are still attempting to identify a person of
interest who was released in a sketch on December 29, 2009. The person of
interest has been described as a white male with a slim build, short in
height, and has dark colored hair. The sketch released by investigators can
be located at the Granite Falls Police Department web site at

On Monday, December 28, 2009 at approximately 1:42 pm the Granite Falls Police responded to the Granite Gun & Pawn located at 90 S. Main Street in Granite Falls in reference to a robbery / homicide of Tony Lee Myers.  Myers was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound and numerous items were taken from the pawn business.  Witnesses described the abovementioned person as someone inside the pawn business around the time of the homicide that had a possible speech impediment.
